Today I was quite happily getting on with my day, had a great meat feast pizza for breakfast, had a relentless, played with my kids for a bit, helped Sophia make a card for her mother and then I went to check my e-mails to find one with a video for EA Sports Season Ticket.
So what is Season Ticket? Well as you would expect EA's marketing department have been hard at work and the latest thing they have come up with is Season Ticket which grants you access to 3 days early access to FIFA, Tiger Woods, NHL, Madden and NCAA which seems to be without buying the game. The good news is it is essentially like having a 3 day rental before the release of the game so that you can try everything.
Personally I know this is a money grabbing exercise by EA but it's one I'll be investing in, why you ask? Well because so often I've bought Madden, NHL, Tiger Woods etc and thought to myself after a few days, nah I don't want this. Well this is my chance to try the game properly without having to fight for a rental at Blockbusters or pay out £40 on the game and then after a week decided I don't want it.
EA are very coy in their marketing but in all honesty this is an idea I quite like. So what else does Season Ticket include? Well, it includes:
- 20% off of all DLC
- Premium Web Content
- Membership Recognition
So what does all of this mean?
20% off of all DLC
This is pretty self explanatory, if for example FIFA releases and then they release downloadable content such as new football boots or VP boosts then you'll get 20% off, not too bad.
Premium Web Content
Now this is where it gets interesting to me, with Premium Web Content you'll be able to create more teams and more players in the games creation centres but the big one, to quote David Rutter "you'll be able to take graphics from the real world and stamp them on your players chest so you can make them even more authentic". Now to me this is huge as I see this as a great way to advertise and get more authenticity.
No details are out yet on what modes you'll be able to use this on so it may be a case of not being able to use it online but if you can then the FVPA will certainly be sporting our brand logo.
Another great feature of this is you can essentially create real kits that are not in the game, something I'll be certain to be having a tinker with. For those of you who do not buy a Season Ticket, well, you'll have to pay for this adding of graphics to players, which is not so bad but it certainly makes me more interested in buying a Season Ticket for myself.
Membership Recognition
This gives you a special badge that is shown in lobbies that you do in fact have a season ticket. There is no amazing functionality with this but it is a nice little extra that others may not have.
All of this comes for $24.99 which is a pretty fair price for 5 full games for 3 days, 20% off DLC, Premium Web Content and a nifty little Season Ticket badge.
